Recessing led ultrabrights

Hi there, I'm thinking of recessing some ultrabright led rear lights in some tubing and having them recessed by about an inch maybe less, can anyone think of a bad reason to do this or maybe a mot failure?
Obviously I like the idea but don't want to go to the effort of doing this if its not safe to do so, this is for my jago geep

Cheers Greg

hmmmmmm MOT failure or not sounds like no one could see the lights unless staring directly at them, frenching tail lights used to be popular but like many things was not very safe. Why not just fit Landrover ones and be seen? you can get clear smoked lenses now too and after all these years are still popular, mega cheap, easy to fit LED's too and very robust.

Here's a company in the UK who does all sorts of LED lamps, maybe they will have something you like...
