British vehicle plate
I have an old British licence plate which came on my racing Anglia which I purchased in 1968, the plate was not for the car as it was LHD.
The thing that I have wondered about having read UK car magazines since the 60's is that there is a yellow border around the plate, the rest of
it is 60's style aluminum plate with raised aluminum numerals on a black background.
Any ideas?

This also goes back to the days before the UK joined the EU.
The yellow border car has been registered and used in the UK yellow border indicates the car was bought in the UK for private export. Foreign
citizens visiting were allowed to buy left hand drive cars in the UK and register it for use during their stay without pay UK purchase or special car
tax.

That makes sense, the guy I bought the Anglia off of had gone to school in England, bought a MK1 Cortina while there and brought it home with him.
When I bought the Anglia he returned to England and brought back an Escort Twin Cam to race (RWD Escorts were never sold in Canada).
The first race the next year at Mosport he couldn't pass his old Anglia (over the winter we had gone from Improved Production to Group 1
regulations) until he hit it and folded the rear wing over the tire.

Trivia --- one of the people to take advantage of the scheme was James Taylor he bought a Mk2 Cortina GT and imported to the US, the song
"Sweet Baby James" was written in his head when he was driving it home from the docks to see his new born nephew.
