New Trackday Toy Part 2
Well for those that remember we put an old Quattro A4 together as a cheap trackday toy, thread is here:
Linky. Well unfortunately after 3 trackdays including doing over 160
miles on the Silverstone International and more recently a full day at Oulton park the Hindenburg is dead...long live the Hindenburg. In the final
session at Oulton I wrung its neck and stayed out for 4 laps longer than our self imposed limit, the result is it now has a very ominous top end
rattle, much as I would like to take it out again and see how long its lasts I don't think other participants would appreciate it so as of now
its considered to be unserviceable. Ill be breaking it over the next few weeks and there are some nice bits on it that I will hopefully get my money
back on, unless anyone here fancies taking it? it runs and drives like a trooper still but the original ethos was once it developed a fault that meant
hours under the hood it was gone and so............

200 Alfa 147 2.0 Litre Twinspark, 110K with MOT till next May and Tax until the end of year, Good tyres all round no advisories on the last MOT and
drive very nicely £600 thank you. A Little more than the Audi but the idea this time is to take some time and money and develop it into a tidy
reliable track Car that can still be put back onto the road if needs be.
To that end initial survey has come up with the following list:
1. Gear change is like stirring a pudding, so have ordered the required parts today for the grand total of £15 to put that right.
2. No history of its last cambelt change so have ordered a cambelt kit and water pump along with the required cam locking tool as my missus now has a
156 (which is what prompted me to get this 147)
3. Got lucky and landed an Ex display Alfa 147 full stainless catback sports exhaust off the bay for £130.
4. Just ordered a K&N 57i induction kit
5. Am going to order the Eibach Full ARB kit in a minute as it comes highly recommended by the Alfa crowd,
6. Looking into slightly lowering it and maybe replace the dampers, the Eibach 30mm lowering spring kit is less than £100 so a good start.
7. Rear seats will come out to save a bit of weight and be stored properly so they can be put back in if necessary. The front seats are so comfy and
supportive I'm tempted to leave them in and use the seat belts for its first outing.
8. New discs all round from the same place we got the Audi ones which seemed fine and were much cheaper than the usual suspects, pads TBD
9. DIY Decat pipe and again will store the Cat so it can go back on for the MOT.
Picked it up last night and its currently in the hotel car park, will catch the train down on Monday and drive it next week in London then back home
on Friday, the seller has very kindly left his insurance in place so I am covered 3rd party.
Initial tickle around the industrial estate next to the hotel when I got back last night were very good, certainly pulls well and handles nicely as
is, you definitely wouldn't have thought it was 12 years and 110k old.

The main aim is to keep the total to below £1500

If you are tempted by the standard seats for now, take a look at a cg lock, drove a friends Mini Cooper GP Works at Spa with 1 fitted and it really
made a difference
