rubber ball joint covers for 1999 audi a4
Mot due in march, and I've got a list of jobs needing done, so may as well get started on them, erm, before winter sets in...?
I've lost the list, but I know some of the rubber ball joint covers are split, so I'm planning on replacing them all. The inspector said
all the joints are fine, just replace the rubber. Anyone know what size I need?!
Also need to replace a cv joint boot (again, joint is fine) and needs new shocks, so I plan on doing everything at the same time
Where can I get these covers from though? They're on ebay, but different sizes and kits of weird numbers (5s?!) Just not sure what size to
get
Can anyone help?
Cheers!

Your local motor factors should keep both in stock, the c.v gaiter kit will have the correct part number listed, the ball joint boot they may need the
outer diameter of the ball joint to supply the correct item . Easy enough to measure. One little tip when fitting the large securing clip, use a
couple of short lengths of brake pipe slipped over the ends of the clip when opening

is it just a case of taking a wheel off and measuring both ends of a cover then? and getting some covers the nearest size? or maybe slightly under
size? didn't think they were really something you could get easily, but seems you can then!
not sure i'll get a chance to go to a motor factors. i think there's only 1 left round here now, and i'm at work when they're
open and can't make it over at lunch time. ebay might be the best bet for me.
cheers for the tip on the clips!

If you can get at the larger area of the ball joint with a vernier gauge iit should be easy to measure but allow for the thickness of the rubber and
the clip
