Windscreen scratch removal?

My wife had a collision with a low-flying wood pigeon last week, and I think it had steel-tipped claws as it's left some light scratches on the windscreen! They're just to the left of the screen's centre and not too visible so they shouldn't affect the MOT, but I know they're they're there and they are annoying me.

I've seen some adverts for polishing kits to remove scratches - anyone tried them?
