205 gti inner wing brace?
Just removed the front wings from my 205 as part of a complete strip down for restoration. Behind the NS wing is what looks like a brace of some kind
as shown in the pic. It's an original part of the chassis, but the odd thing is there's not one on the OS inner wing. People over on the
205 gti forum have confirmed this is standard on 205 body shells, but there is only speculation as to the purpose of having it on one side. Ideas
include....
Brace to strengthen the NS upper engine mounting
Protection bar for the master cylinder and/or fuel filter in the event of an impact
Manufacturing feature to jig or hold the shell during production
Brace to strengthen the NS on RHD cars for steering forces (no idea if it's reversed on LHD cars though)
So, anyone any other ideas what it's for...?

I'm probably being a bit dim, but if that's the front wings then surely you are showing the offside, not the nearside?
Are the inner wings completely symmetrical (i.e. same design both sides)? If not, then perhaps the design made this side weaker and the extra bracing
was required.
