Raw or Sylva Striker?
Still on the look-out for one or t'other.
Thought I'd better ask in advance if anyone who has driven both thinks that the IRS on the Raw car is worth the couple of extra grand over a LA
on the Sylva? I understand that the IRS will be a bit smoother and a bit more predictable on the highways, but is the improvement justification for
the difference in price... ???

For road use, the IRS does give a noticeable improvement in both ride and grip on less-than-perfect surfaces, I must admit (and I'm an
aficionado of the Sylva's live axle set-up).
Track use is a different matter.
Whether it's worth a £2K premium is a matter of opinion. Personally, given the amount of mileage these cars do (and assuming all other spec. is
equal), I'd say not, but you pays your money and you takes your choice.

I have got both and I think at high speeds the IRS feels a bit more planted and it has 272bhp so it copes wiv that really well. The live axle car is
feels good but at high speeds on not very flat roads it feels a bit more unplanted.........if u know wot I mean ?
Sylva/raw strikers r the best kit car 4 the money

Not sure if you've got one yet - one of the lads I went to brands with on Saturday is trying to sell his striker - I can put you in touch with
each other.

And I believe RAW have done live axle cars as well...although I maybe making that up.
It was explained to me by someone who drove a lot of Kitcars as follows
1. IRS cars are ultimately better on road and track if set-up correctly. If they are not set-up they can try and kill you.
2. Live Axle cars are almost impossible to set-up so they try and kill you.
If a Live Axle car came in he would happily road test it, if a IRS car came in he wanted to check the backend before taking it on the road.
My Live Axle Phoenix loses out to IRS cars on bumpy circuits, on smooth tarmac there is little or no advantage to IRS.

Yeah, saw on the RAW website that they offered a 'Live Axle' option... cost's more... so MUST be better!

Given a choice I would go IRS because of the ultimate performance and the ability to uprate the diff and half-shafts compared with the English or
Atlas axle. Typically IRS cars are heavier and a number of BECs use Live Axle for this reason.

my experience of live axle is that its not a good on small country lanes the ride is worse but mine offers more grip over an irs setup
and its not as heavy

Country roads are where I do most of my driving...
To be fair though, I don't push all that hard on the highway.

put it this way my Elise is fun and easy to drive fast down the lanes, my 7 is more fun only due to that fact you are only a prod of the loud pedal
away from death, some days this is entertaining some days its tiresome
the 7 makes the Elise feel slow in comparison
i think the ride on a LA car is alot depandant on spring rates also, maybe running longer travel shocks and having more travel ala caterham at the
rear will help?

That about sums things up... you don't really need to be driving particularly fast to get a buzz out of driving a small-kit.
