Old Modeo 2.0 TDDI running issue help.
The work horse is getting on a bit with over 220,000 miles on it, recently has acquired an issue when being driven. On a light load or when trying to
hold constant speed I get a juddering, or, missing of the engine.
Put the foot down and it clears, ease off the foot pedal and it clears, bring it back up to any speed and hold it there it will start again.
Seems to me more noticeable when engine warm then cold.
Was thinking fuel filters but would not expect it to clear when I put the foot down, same again with the rear lift pump.
I know it has nothing to do with flywheel as is a solid one. Air filter when checked quite clean and clear.
There are no engine warning lights coming on.
Anyone have a good knowledge of these older engines.
Cheers
Adrian

ERG? Will show up on ELM327 with Bluetooth + smart phone app. What error code do you get? If you have a smart phone ELM is very cheap on ebay!

Sorry ERG? ?
I have not plugged in a data reader, the car is 2001 and I though that diesels did not conform to any standards until after 2004?
Adrian
Why do I have to make the tools to finish the job? More time then money.

EGR. Think he had a typo?
I have the TDDI engine in my 2001 mondeo too 98k miles, it has an odd misfire at around 1800 rpm at light throttle. Tried all sorts of stuff to fix
it including blanking the EGR, fuel filter, lift pump, exciter wire on the alternator (which didn't fix the flickery lights either). So I kind
of gave up and just ignore it now. Other than that it seems to run fine.
You are right, they don't conform to ebd stds, you won't see anything on the code reader.
