Oops.

SWMBO just returned home to say she's reversed into someone's car. Unfortunately it was my car.

Now have 2 cars to fix. 2 panels on each car!

To help your wife feel a little better we could turn this into a LCB silly driving mistakes rehab.

Ill start!

Brand spanking new mondeo 6 months ago. Before i had a chance to clean it for the second time i noticed that when the reversing sensors got dirty they just constantly beeped! In a rush one day i turned them off and then just reversed. . . Straight into a post!

I was not happy.

Next!

Track days ARE the best thing since sliced bread, until I get a supercharger that is!

Thats where you went wrong, they are not reversing sensors at all.
They are reminders to clean your car more than twice in 6 months.

She doesn't have reversing sensors., however, the rear view camera should have been more than enough.

She's far more upset than me. My view is that bent metal and scratched paint can be fixed. What's done can't be undone so there's no point getting upset.

At least I'll get some mileage out of the incident for a few months

Exactly, you have brownie points in your pocket now.
The next time you want to buy some car stuff or do a trackday, it won't cost you a new pair of shoes

Steve,

I was thinking of going for a mobile repair service like Revive or ChipsAway who have both done good repairs for me in the past (Supermarket car park dings grrrrr!). Usually around £100 per panel.

Send me his details and I'll see what he can do.

We've been looking to change SHMBO's car and have take a few test drives recently. Need to see what the hit P/X will be if we choose to leave the dent and let the garage fix it.

Anyone want a Lexus IS250 SE (53k on a 56 plate)? One careful owner (plus my wife)? LOL

Within a week of getting my boxster, I drove into the drive, went slightly too far and gently drove into the tow bar on our other car. The plastic bumper just flexed and cracked the paint slightly, so no big deal. Annoying though.

Same here, some years ago the wife reversed our 4x4 into my new company car. Obviously if it was the other way round the company car insurance would pay the bill. (cough)
Doesn't everybody come pre fitted with 2 parking sensors?

In the 80s, my father had to brake suddenly for a tractor on a country road and my mother (who was following in her brand new 2.0 Alfa Giulietta) hit the only part of his Fiat 132 that wasn't rusty - the towbar!

In 2004, I collected a brand new MINI Cooper S from London and drove it to Germany. Pulled into the services 5km from home and hit the kerb putting a deep scratch in one alloy

My jeep fell off the axle stands and smashed into my van. I felt quite relieved though, because I'd only just managed to dive out from between them!
