Scrapping a car you don't own???
Son's 1.25 Fiesta has been sat on the drive SORN'd for ages and he's now decided it can go to the great scrapyard in the sky.
Problem is the car's registered here but he lives elsewhere - according to his driving licence.
Last time I went to the scrappie they wanted all details including Proof of identity and bank account for the payment.
Any suggestions if I can sort it out or will he need to be with me to sign it over/give bank details/
TIA.
Cheers, Pewe10

Could you not just put your name on the logbook?

I had my MX5 shell taken away with no ID check. Although I didn't get any money for it.
Changing the name on the V5 gets my vote. Even if he can't sign the V5, I can't imagine they have anything to check it against.

Stick it on EBay and let someone else have the hassle of shifting it.

Can you take it in with just the 'green slip' from the log book?
Then you've obviously just bought it from him with the sole purpose of scrapping it. Before the new log book comes you only have the green
slip.
Might be worth taking the yellow section in too as that will be what they need to fill in?

Thanks guys.
Can't beat Owelly's (as usual) blinding logic.
Might give the scrappie a ring if I don't go down the fleabay route.
