Any recommendations or experience of the chip away type service?
Friend near Gatwick with a metallic blue Merc asked, but I,m interested for the Porker to as to whether it works, good match, good value?
Else any other advice?

I used a local body shop to touch up the rear (plastic) bumper and rear passenger door on my black Passat last year before I sold it. Inexpensive fast and you couldn't tell afterwards. Worth asking around in your area to get quotes and see if cash makes a difference.

? What does that comment mean as that isn't a sentence that reads correctly, I have used chips away and the guy did a fantastic job and I would guarantee you could not see it. I'm not saying not to use a body shop I am giving a recommendation based on my personal experience and not trying to sell chips away over anyone else.

Thanks guys

I understood it.
I don't not know anything about paint or paint shops, I'd have thought they'd want to spray the whole door , but I'm happy to be proved wrong
Would that be the same for a Mercedes dealer I wonder?

I'd be pretty sure a Mercedes dealer would sub the work out to a body shop TBH. From personal experience a good body shop doesn't have to repaint a whole panel these days and good ones are relatively skilled at matching older vehicle paints too to make the re-work look seamless. I've had it done before with good results - about to get som work done in Winchester on SWMBOs VW Touran after an older gent had a go at it in a car park locally. The gent in question has been first class all round. He left his details under the wiper on SWMBOs car and has paid in cash based upon sight of a quote we got from the body shop. Work is to touch up the plastic bumper and smooth a couple of small dents in the rear drivers side wing. Annoying work for sure, but the body shop take it in their stride and results are first class. We'll keep the Touran until it expires as well so hopefully a good few years yet.
