Anyone done a Rally day?
SWMBO Has offered to get me a 'Rally Experience' for my birthday this year - anyone done this and have any recommendations?
Escort Mk2 appeals but saw a video on line and it was just a car driving on an old airfield between a bunch of tyres - are any of them any
different/better?
Lincolnshire based but happy to travel!

I had a full day at phil price rally school. Very good day. Was done in scooby's . Had a ride a with phil driving at crazy speed round the track

Not done it myself but know people that have been to the one Mark Higgins runs,can't remember the name ATM,but it's mid Wales based in mk2

Me and a load of makes clubbed together and bought a friend a rally day at Silverstone. I chose that particular one because it was mk2 escorts.
I'm not into the big corporate thing so was glad it was not at the track but on the other side where force India F1 were.
It was a good day. It was all mk2 driving and it was a training day not reallt an experience. It had some class room based stuff and then a go out and
try it. The race course was quite short and twisty but varied and had plenty of speed to get it wrong.
It was good from a spectator point of view. I got to sit in the class and watch the driving so I experienced the whole thing with him really. I also
paid for a passenger ride at the end of the day.
It was not the cheapest at 280ish IIRC but worth it.

Track days ARE the best thing since sliced bread, until I get a supercharger that is!

I did one with the wife in Lincolnshire and it was just an airfield with a load of tyres. Not brilliant but it was better than the HGV experience she
did recently which was less than 2 miles on an airfield perimeter road.

I did one at Prestwold, it was ok-ish,. it was a gift so I don't know how much. Depends what you are expecting, seems to be a whole day with 80%
or more waiting time.

Did the Silverstone Rally School one some years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Mk2 Escorts on shagged tyres so lots of opportunities for hanging the back end out.
Also picked up useful tips for rear wheel drive cars and handbrake turns.
On a different level and depending on the funds Porsche Experience Centre is worth considering.
We did Caymans and the "consultants" really want you to explore the car's potential plus you get a cracking 3 course lunch thrown in
and guests are welcome (for a fee).

I did one a few years ago at sweetlamb (near phil Price) in midwales. http://sweetlamb.co.uk/
Would thoroughly recommend it! It was a couple of hours, scooby RWD only, they weren't precious about the cars and generally enjoyed it a lot.
The course I did was on a small gravel circuit, but I think they even have the WRC stage on their land which they can use.
