FIA & Vettel
I see the FIA have set a date to relook at the Vettel driving into Lewis incident. I wonder how that will turn out especially as most people know what
it seems to stand for after some other decisions they have made previously. Apparently they are only looking at Vettels driving and not Lewis as his
driving has been cleared already.

Quite right too. Hamilton had the right to set the pace not Vettel. He drove into Hamilton's rear end then drew alongside and banged into
Hamilton again. If Vettel cannot control himself, he is a danger to all the other drivers and has no place in racing. I would like to have seen him
disqualified immediately, but now he should lose the points gained in that race and have a 1 race ban.

My money is on disqualification from previous or next race.
Despite the old FIA (Ferrari international assistance) rumours ive read its ex ferrari boss Jean Todt that's pushed for FIA intervention.

To crash into LH once due to a bit of pony driving is one thing but the rest was totally unnecessary. Telemetry shows LH didn't apply the brakes
whilst SV applied right steering. Personally don't care if it was accidental- it was deliberately aggressive driving that resulted in them
making contact. Dangerous whichever way you look at it.

I don't think it was that dangerous - speeds involved were too low to do anything other than risk damage to cars. IMO its just down to few
things - it was blatantly intentional, completely unnecessary, was an act of red mist anger/frustration. Which is unacceptable at that level. It also
is equally unacceptable that he refuse to acknowledge it a mistake of his own making. I could understand if it was a 50/50 or even 70/30 where some
media etc were of the view it was possibly accidental - but NO one had come out in defence of him. Other than the BS about drivers being at the top of
there game and sometimes they overstep the mark an thats to be expected. Expected or not - its unacceptable.
Most are comparing it to over safety car incidents, which all have been foolish, but largely accidental.
It should be compared to when Schumacher did it to Villeneuve in Jerez in 97 - he was retrospectively disqualified for the WHOLE SEASON.

Well let's put it this way- in 2008 Hamilton slammed into the back of a stationary Raikkonen in the pit lane due to a lapse in concentration- he
got a 10 place penalty at the next race. So VS should get that for starters. And then they should consider the rest. The good news is the Shanghai
branch of Ferrari are delivering Vettel's car for his next championship.
What a dick- at least when Maldonado crashed into other cars it was just sheer lack of talent.

Talk about this only being a 50kmph wheel to wheel nudge and therefore not worth bothering about is way off the mark imo.
Remember these cars have front wishbones made from carbon fibre that are designed close to the limit, there was no telling that vettel had not put a
small fracture in either his or hamiltons front wishbone. And being carbon fibre you would not know it was there (unlike alloys which would probably
bend and so the driver would feel the difference in geometry) and this may let go without warning and if that was at 215mph who knows what the outcome
may have been. There was no way that vettel could have judged his deliberate act to 100% avoid damage to either car. I am with the majority on this,
in any other series this would have been an instant black flag and a 1 or more race ban.
Just me venting my spleen on this.

I don't think there will be any further action of any real consequence but personally I think he should be classified as disqualified from the
Baku race.

I had the exact same thought, the possibility of a damaged wishbone when there was still a substantial race distance to cover, with a very high speed
straight & therefore high braking forces just doesn't bear thinking about - it could have resulted in the death of a driver, marshal(s)or
spectator(s). It was completely irresponsible on Vettel's part & it's not the first time he's done something impulsive or daft -
he really needs to get that temper under control - I know we all get a bit of the "red mist" come down when we're competing &
the adrenaline is pumping, but there are limits & he has way overstepped them. I feel he should have been black flagged at the time & should
certainly have his points taken away as an absolute minimum now!

Hmm - is it right for a footballer to headbutt an opposing team member, probably not. So why should Vettel be allowed to - headbutt - or drive into -
another .
In my book he should have been disqualified for deliberately causing a collision. And he didn't learn with his after race comments.
Complete paper hat - should have been disqualified at least - or more

Are they taught to basically straight away start denying things and not admit any kind of fault? From something DC said in commentary before I think
they might have almost a contractual obligation to act that way and make as much fuss as possible about anything relating to another team.
Just to play devils advocate, it did make the race and the season more exciting as a viewer as more cars went longer into the race and fast cars were
out of position meaning more overtaking, Stroll fight to stay ahead of Bottas and a new GP for the season so far potentially meaning 4 drivers and 3
teams are in the hunt still for the WDC (I'm being generous to Ricardo) as well as giving us some more tension between the top (in current
points) 2 drivers. It was probably the most exciting race to watch so far this year which is really something for a race that everyone thought would
be super boring because of the long straight.

I agree with disqualification, I was appalled at what Vettel did, no place for that playground stupidity in top flight motorsport, if the FIA
don't deal with this other drivers will think it's ok for them, especially the younger ones that'll look up to the likes of Vettel
to set the example.

Vettel says sorry to everyone but Hamilton and does a bit of autograph signing at a couple of support races and everything is right with the
world??????
Not a big Hamilton fan but after that whitewash in the name of keeping the title race interesting (don't get me started on the use of the safety
car rather than virtual safety car in more than one instant) I hope Mercedes come 1-2 in every remaining race and Hamilton wins the championship with
four races to go, that's what they deserve.

What a load of shite. Honestly thought it was gonna be at least a hefty fine for him. Was hoping for a points deduction tho.
I'll be disgusted if vettel wins championship but a couple of points now tho.
However it is exciting racing have 2 teams capable of winning so wouldnt want a complete white wash.
Fingers crossed Vettels tempers will flare again over coming races and they will be forced to punish him properly

It weird as if Jean Todt had some kind of relationship with Ferrari
I really thought that they'd give a penalty that would bring the 2 driver's points closer together but keep the championship going

Seconded! Absolute rubbish on the part of the FIA! What message does that send out to young drivers that look up to World Champs as an example? FFS!
