toodling down the road at around 40 mph when a car coming the other way swerved towards me, i swerved up the kerb, he missed me by microns, the fellow
behind me wasnt so lucky.
he got hit head on with a closing speed of around 80 mph.
2 ambulances, 2 fire engines and the helicopter arrived withing minutes so it looks pretty bad.
gave a statment to the police, had a ciggy and drove home at a reduced rate, still a bit shaken.
take care out there.
Nope, it all happened so quickly, if it wasnt for my lightning reactions he would have hit me, the fella in front of me said he was swerving all over
the road, maybe playing with a phone or heart attack....take your pick ?
Glad you avoided that one, if he was on his phone they should throw the book at him - spend half my life on the road and it's crazy the number
of people on the phone!
On a side note - you should stop smoking, apparently it's bad for you!
Seems all these new safety devices arent working.
Sadly its the drivers that are at fault and taking away their responsibilities with driver aids in just making them worse.
I nearly got pushed off the road the other day. https://youtu.be/uDjzIMRknLY
She wasnt distracted or anything, just completely unaware.

It seems to me that you were going a little bit too fast...
Maybe the video angle..

Must be you as i was doing about 45-50. In a 60 limit, and must have slowed to 30 when i saw her not moving over.
Its also irrelevant as the road isnt single width so should have been able to go at any speed past her. She had a metre of road on her left!
From my experience dashcam footage always looks faster than it is - think it's something to do with the wider angle of the lens that you
don't get with your eyes then it's condensed onto a flat screen.

It's something I see quite often where I live - people in large cars who aren't sure of the width of the vehicle, and where the nearside
is, driving towards the centre of the road and leaving a huge gap on the left. It's different when you see a 'professional big car
driver' like a farmer in his Land-Rover or a builder in his big pick-up, as they usually know where to put their vehicle on the road.

Yeah, not intended to be rude...
Daf Nailed it...
That doesn´t change the other driver was "Mordiendo Raya" as we say here.
Last resort some times is to get some off road experience instead of a head on collision...
Better to swallow damages to car than risk losing your life....
Or your loved ones´s...
