Car insurance for car sale
Hi All
I've just put my Fury up for sale and having not sold a car for 20years ( apart from PX at dealers) I was wondered what people do about test
drives.
I'm thinking that I need to see (not just accept verbal) valid proof of comprehensive insurance to drive any car or my reg specifically
otherwise they don't get to test drive and I will have to drive them.
what are the thoughts on this

Don't let them drive it! Take them for a test drive and then, if they want to drive themselves, ask for the asking price as a security deposit?

bear in mind most comp insurance for other car will only cover third party loss so they can drive the car but if they crash it its on them.Unless
they are so serious, perhaps after a first view they will insure themselves short term.
If it was a 500 fiesta one thing , but a specialised hot car like these they could bin it at the first corner,
So as said you drive they passenger, any reasonable request/fast slow cornering, braking but cash in hand and sold before they hit the throttle, or
real insurance for your car

I wouldn't let anyone test drive my card any more, the last car that i sold privately the lad nearly put it through a hedge, one of the scariest
moments i've had as a passenger.

I just sold my stylus. I took the new keeper for a test drive. I asked him what he wanted to see......I.E brake tests, gear changes etc

Cheers for all the advice.
I agree these cars are a bit unique and its very easy to push past yours and the cars limits, so i'll be driving for any test drives.

Hi,
For short term insurance for test drives or taking cars for MOTs before putting them back on the road etc, you might want to look at

That said, I would tend to agree that letting a potential first-timer drive a Locost might not be a great idea. I would certainly insist on a
substantial deposit approaching full sale price and I'd probably strap a Go-Pro onto the car to avoid any misunderstandings.
