Any Jag experts out there ?

Ive been for a test drive in a 2006 XJR

By F*** its quick

400 horses of supercharged evilness.

Probably not the best weather for getting the best out of the car but i was well impressed.

Has anybody got any experience of these cars and any problems that they experience before i part with some hard earned.

I know it looks like an old mans car but Im no spring chicken and actually like the way it looks.

All comments good or bad greatfully received

cheers

Andy

Not an old mans car at all, only the dash dates it. My mate had one before getting an RS6. He had a few gremlins over 3 years of ownership but nothing serious.

Cracking value at the minute.

I have an old XK8, so far no big problems done 50,000 miles in the last 18 months just keep changing the oil.

The gearboxs are "sealed for life", but the same item in a merc has a dipstick, well worth getting the gearbox fluids changed every 30,000 miles/three years. have a google on how to do this, the fluid is very expensive ~£100 to do each time but worth it.

Jags are great, I run on LPG which makes it a very cheap car indeed, soft valves so you need a system that blends, I have 15% petrol to 85% LPG and does not knock the performance.

Forget all the "those jag v8's" keep breaking, make sure the chains on the front done, half the oil service interval and grease the halfshafts and it will run for 250,000 miles with no real problems.

Spares are cheap enough, David Manners stock most items cheaply.

Regards Mark

Super chargers have a habit of shitting themselves, near on a grand to fix unless you get Jag to repair under warranty.

Our accounts lady has one, her super charger gave up and she was told it was a common problem, she got it done on warranty but that was only after a big argument.
