Not sure.

if it's alloy it could be anodizing?
"That thing you're thinking - it wont be that."

I would guess as its a 2 stroke, its some sort of coating (perhaps phosphor bronze or something) to prevent corrosion as the conrods are not being
splashed with oil repeatedly.
With the fuel intake being 2 stroke oil, petrol & air, perhaps its to protect against the water vapour in the air that would condense on the
conrods over the years.

I too would guess at it being 2 stroke. I would also add that it could be a coating to create a "rougher surface" therby creating more
surface area of the conrod to allow for heat transfer.
If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

Confused but excited.

Alloy conrods?
A lot of bikes had alloy conrods. My Ariel Arrow and my cousins 600 Norton Dominator had them. Loooooong time ago.
Tell them about the bent treacle edges!

He's been on the sun bed Sorry wrong conrod
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Alloy conrods?
Yeah, I think they are generally hyper eutectic!

Guessing it is not an alloy rod as I can see no bearing outers fitted and you would not run needle ends directly on the alloy

More than likely they are titanium nitrided, it's about the right colour given the rough surface of the rod.
Kind regards
