More from the Retropower garage..........

Have a look on our website, there's a fair bit going on now!!

We're booked up until late August/September and got some really interesting projects coming up, such as an Ascona 400 replica build, a manta 400 build, a Porsche 356 (genuine one) restoration, and probably the maddest thing on wheels for "T66" on this forum, won't go into too much detail, but 500+hp per tonne, Fiat 126 and road legal, in the same sentence, doesn't usually go!!!

Anyway, have a look on here for details, and if you're new to our website, welcome to the madhouse and feel welcome to follow our ramblings on Twitter..........

The "projects" section is the interesting bit on the site, which is under redesign and will be renewed in the next couple of days.....

Which two minis?

Nope, we bought the green cooper, restored it and sold it on, bought the green clubby estate part rebuilt, then restored it and have it for sale at the mo, and the pink one is being done for a chap called Iain from Bristol (well, his missus! )........

Just wondering, we've posted some stuff on the mini forum so it could be on there that you've seen them??

I think "T66" on here also linked us on a mini forum re. the clubby estate.

LOL that's my bro's missus! She's our official capri transporter, which is just as well as we have a Mk1 in at the mo which might need lifting too as I have to put a Jag IRS into it!!

I think I might have to use the 2 poster though, she objected a bit after the 2.8i

aaah, speedyxjs, now you might be interested in what we hope to put in the pipeline in the more distant future!

We're thinking about racing a Jag XJ40 or XJ6 once we have the money to do it!

At the moment I'm not even paying myself so that's some way off, but when it happens I'll let you know!!

Your website brings to mind the current advert running on TV.

Have you put your address on the Internet... Yes. Have you put photos of lots of valuable cars at said address on the Internet.... Yes. Have you put photos of lots of valuable tools at said address on the Internet.... Yes.

as cd thomson says, so what!....

I have no choice, if I want business I have to prove that I am legit, have decent premises and that I don't work out of a 5hithole.

I have a police linked alarm system, and a landlord that lives on the premises, with some very big dogs and maybe the odd shotgun, and he's a good friend!

Ps I'm terrified of being broken into, but as I said, no choice unfortunately.

Thought it must have been our site.....didn't like to say lol

As you say, on security, that's just the way the world is. Would love to say it doesn't worry me but it does, however if I worried about it too much I wouldn't have put all my worldly tools possessions into the business, and wouldn't have started the business full stop.

Got yr u2u by the way, cheers!

Nat

I do like that a lot.
- I would love to be able to do a bit of an apprenticeship at somewhere like that for 6months or so.

That silver mini has turned a rather bright shade of pink. Looks a nice job BTW.

Its not as glamorous as it appears!!

If you are at uni in loughborough you are welcome to come round and have a look etc.

I can't pay anybody as I'm not even paying myself yet, but you are very welcome to be nosey, lend a hand, make tea, in fact do anything useful as we've never got enough time to do everything!

I've just finished speaking to a customer who has brought some more parts in for us (he lives down in bristol), and wants to write a recommendation for us to put on the website, which is nice!!

We're no F1 operation, but we are very committed to being the best in the retro cars field, and to doing as many of the parts of the job as possible "in-house", which means the job is pretty varied. For example today my bro has been painting in the booth (which we have constructed ourselves too) and on drying time he's been building the new website.

I went buying tea and propane first thing this morning, both essential to comfort, then welded some stainless bits into the space heater so it stopped trying to melt, then sorted out blasted and repainted mini subframe bits, then took a load of dimensions of a manta bodyshell, made and welded in shell braces, then started cutting the floor and inner sills out ready for a new sheetmetal fabbed floor and chassis to go in there to stand the new powerplant!

First of Nat/Cal I giggled at your opening paragraph...

Madness is something I have worked at for years, it matures with age.

Looking forward to the Fiat project (Mostro Topo =Monster Mouse) getting under way, and also seeing some of your other projects progressing.

Keep up the good work, it wont go unnoticed.

No engine yet....

was meant to go saturday but the snow scared me off.

The plan is to collect from Scott (Scootz) but meet Iain at the same time who has a Radical Busa Rotrex.

I suppose the Fiat is a similar project , just not as pointy as the Radical.

It will be another few weeks till I get up there, work commitments bla bla.

Keep you posted.
