Bloody Insurance no claims rules...
Drives me mad....
I have got over 35 years no claims
(Hope that ain't the kiss of death)
But still I cant carry over any no claims after 2 years !!! WHY ??????
Either I have had a claim or I aint....
You do have 15 days to cancel without cost.
After that they tend to rip you off something horrid.
I had my insurance for about 6 weeks before needing to cancel (Sold the car)
They offered me £12 back from a £160 premium ...bstds.

well the reson the 3yrs was out of date is cos insurance copmanys wont allow you to use car no claims bonus on commercial vehicle and vice versa, so
really should of had 5yrs no claims and now legaly i have non just becouse i want from a car to small van and back to a car what the fcuk is that
about!

I agree.
As I said, either you got no claims or you aint.
If you ain't made a claim then you got no claims...Or am I missing something as well.
Not that it's much use to you, but over here the no claims discount is on the driver not he car.
So you can have as many cars as you like and they all qualify.
Bad thing of course is if you have an accident/claim..........

Yeah I went from taxi (05 mondeo) to private car (exact same mondeo) and I lost 2 years no claims there, and another SEVEN years no claims because I
didn't have a private car while it was a taxi.
So my insurance has been around £800 a year since ever.

Having the it only last a certain time does sort of make sense (If you'd not driven for a few years your probably more likely to crash) but then
you get stuff like the above (My dad had the same with his Pick up).
Its all a con but theres bugger all you can do about it and the insurance companies know this.

I understand that if I have a 2 year break from driving, but I was driving the exact same car this whole time the only difference being one policy was
to go to work the other was work.
Still think there should be some sort of voluntary system

Not quite, you have 14 days to cancel without them imposing cancellation terms i.e. they will give you a pro-rata return.

That is very true, as soon as i insured with them i posted them my a copy of my 3yrs NCB and my licence the next day, they waited for the 14day period
to be over for them to tell me my 3yrs wasn`t acceteble and started adding charges and i wasn`t happy, so i`d been driving over 3weeks with no
insurance if i did have an accident i woulden`t of been covered so why do they want this sum of money its not right is it!

If they offer you a NCD your not entitled to (Assuming everything you said was correct) then phone them up and tell them you were missold the policy
and you want all your money back. This happened to me. I told them how long I'd had the insurance on my old car and they said I could have one
years no claims, they then sent me letters saying I'd lied and had to pay an extra £3k. I phoned up and told them I was missold the policy and
was having it at the original price or I was having my money back.
They said they had to check their records and phone me back. half an hour later they called me back and said I could have the policy for about £100
less than Originally quoted.
That was with Aviva who I'd never use again. Managed to get my name wrong twice, and told my next insurer I had a different lisense to the one I
had.
