My dad has driven Transits with Autoboxes but it was back in the early nineties. He's always said an Auto makes more sense alot of the time due to the weight of a loaded van (I've no idea what that actually means though, thats just something he says.)

I bought one new back in 2001, as a 15 seater minibus, I only gave one a try as the ford dealer had it stock for a long time and did me a very good deal on it at the time, it did over 200,000 miles without fault, as I ended up keeping it 5 years as it was so nice to drive, but the only down side was the fuel economy, only 24mpg average, I replaced the transit with a 6 speed manual renault master 17 seater, 33mpg , so would I buy another transit auto, not for the mileage we do, but if your not doing alot of miles, and its cheap enough, go for it.
