OT Galaxy Clutch Noise
I've been looking to buy a Ford Galaxy 1.9 Diesel for a while. Found one, right price, close to us. Best condition i've seen etc etc...
2004
But, when driving there is a noise from the clutch. Faint, but noticable with radio off.
Basically push the clutch in and theres a, like, hydraulic whine (best describes it). But stops as the clutch reaches floor, then it does it again as
you bring the clutch up. Just while the clutch in 'travelling'. Sounds like a faint version of a hydraulic handbrake on the back of a
laguna lol
Its a garage and said their mechanic would do anything that needs doing, Service MOT etc but i'm guessing their not going to go searching for a
noise unless it breaks.
I'm thinking release bearing maybe?
Thanks

What year is the galaxy?
Sounds like a clutch release bearing, if it as faint as you say, it is worth ignoring it, if you ever need a new clutch you can change it then

its a 2004... just worried because they have the Dual Mass Flywheel.
Its definately noticable, so not too faint.

There was a recall on 2003 built Galaxy for a flywheel fault wasn't there? Worth checking if it comes under that.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

According to VOSA site recalls for Galaxy's were before 2003 and after 2006.. so doesnt cover this one ?

DMF noises are usually rattley. Probably just dry release bearing and as long as it's not squeeling it's probably fine.

Don't those Galaxy's use the VW diesel engines. I am in the process of changing a Bora clutch and flywheel, all i can say is what a
ba***rd. Expensive too.
