Tyre Pressures
Mornin' all.
Finally finished working on the daughter's Mk2 MR2 and it passed the MOT yesterday after several weeks of hard work
I am after advice regarding tyre pressures. It's the first time we've had the car on the road since she bought it in the summer and so
I've no idea what the tyre pressures should be.
Tyres are:
Front - 205/40/17
Rear - 215/40/17
Any ideas guys?

Toyota usually have the presures either on the drivers dorr or B pillar or in the fuel flap.

The handbook recommends 26psi for the front and 31psi for the rear as standard - 17" should be the same but Jap Performance magazine suggests
you increase by 2psi for each 1 inch of oversize on rims.
*edited coz I gave the wrong info

Problem is they are after-market wheels and I'm not sure what size the originals were.

Depends on the car, but normally they came with either 14s or 15s IIRC. 26 psi seems very low, but there's next to no weight up front in them
and they're super-tail-happy with that weight over the rear. I'd probably go with 28/33 if it's on 17s, but ultimately I always find
ideal tyre pressures change from tyre to tyre, let alone size to size.
FYI - from the MR2 owners club:
"It does vary slightly depending on suspension setup, tyre type etc so the best thing to do is have a play with the pressures and see what feels
best for your car. General rule of thumb is a 4psi difference between front and rear, the rear being higher pressure, but this isn't set in
stone. Book pressure on stock 15" rims is 29 front, 33 rear which work fine for me with 215/40/17 and 235/40/17.
