It's Gone!

I waved goodbye to the RS4 B7 engine today!

At least it's gone to a good home where it will be lavished with even more attention and fine-tuning (getting dry-sumped and going in a V De V style sports-prototype).

I've really enjoyed doing all the research on the engine and commissioning the various bits and bobs over the last few years. It's an amazing bit of kit and I've learned a lot!

That said, I'll never again fiddle with an engine that's so far off the beaten-track... I only saw back 30% of what I spent on it! What makes it hard to take is when you see competition red-tops and crossflows, etc. selling for a small fortune yet a work of absolute technical genius such as the B7 RS4 goes for pennies. All in the demand I guess!

I'll bet a pound to a penny though that as soon as one of these (hopefully this one) is successfully installed in a race-car and is competitive, then we'll be seeing the demand and prices go through the roof!

Oh well... I think I'll be sticking with the red-top in the Procomp for the foreseeable future
