Lotus vs Lotus
Linky
As far as i can work out, it is essentially a works lotus team and a private lotus team. Could be interesting!
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Thats going to be confusing next year, especially if both teams do end up using the same colour scheme.

Both using Renault engines and both using the JPS colour scheme too.
I was discussing this with my missus in the car tonight and neither of us can work out which should be considered the real Lotus - one owned by Lotus
Cars (or at least a subsiduary of the parent company of the parent company etc.) and one which has the rights (albeit contested at the moment) to Team
Lotus, which would be the right company but they don't have the heritage to go with it (a bit like the BMW Mini in that way - they just bought
the name).
I reckon they should do a deal anyway and run 2 teams in the same manner as Red Bull do, with one pair of cars using the gold leaf scheme instead.
From a brand promotion point of view, 2 teams is good (no matter what the legal wranglings) but the public bickering is not.

Not really a private Lotus team is it, just a team who bought the rights to use the name for twelve months, no connection with Lotus at all really.
Local rumour is a toss up between Lotus being the title sponsor of the Renault (so still not a Lotus really) or Lotus buying the team.

Renault have already sold there share in the enstone team to there beiggest shareholder. Renault F1 will be called Renaultsport F1 and will focus on
tech such as KERS, engines etc for other teams.

Typical! Money men playing.
As far as I knew David Hunt (James brother) owns the rights to Team Lotus.

A couple of years ago Historic Team Lotus (which I believe is still run by the Chapman family and ex Team Lotus mechanics) had a display in the Castle
Mall in Norwich, one of the cars was a 72. Incredibly beautiful car that looked incredibly fragile, really, really wouldn't want to use one in
anger.

If it's not built at Hethel, it isn't a Lotus.

As Raman said, nice to see the old Lotus colours back. Looking forward to what should be another great season.
It looks like the Midget is winning at the moment......
