Mazda MX5 Probe/MX6 v6 engine swap...

Hi All,

I'm thinking of buying a mk1 Mazda MX5, with a not too good engine in (burns oil and is generally worn out).
I have heard of people fitting the V6 out of the Ford Probe and Mazda MX6, into MX5's, but I can't seem to find any solid details on this swap.

Some say that it's a straight bolt-in swap, others say you need to use a RX7 bellhousing and an adapter plate.

I just wondered if anyone here had done this swap, or could point me in the direction of somebody who had.

Basically, I'm looking for a list of what parts I need for the swap, and info on any problems I might come across.

I'm hoping to get this summer out of the little 1.6, then get the swap done this winter.

Any help would be great, cheers Frank.

Send a U2U to BobC and Clairetoo. Both have messed heavily with MX5's/Mazda's etc...

Clairetoo, sells all the bits you need to do the conversion at a decent price. I have a Dutton Melos with an MX5 engine and box in and doing the V6 swap in the winter.

Thanks for that, I thought it was on here that I had read about somebody doing this swap.

Cheers Frank.
