Just been told I'm being made redundant and two of us have to interview for a job that he is already doing

AR5E - that's not a good start!
Can you do the job? Might be him they're trying to oust.
This was done by my employer who wanted to dispense with the existing Tech Director, but move the Ops Manager into the post.

Gutted for you, I am going through the same thing at the moment. Our consultation started 2 weeks ago and I have to drive 250 miles on Thursday to a
meeting where I find out if I am to keep my job or not - don't know why they just can't phone me and tell me !!!

For starters most people would consider it hugely insensitive, but I don't actually think they're allowed. When my lot started making
redundancies last year, we got letters explaining the consultancy process, and then called in to meetings individually where an embarrased looking
director then read us the letter word for word...

I am redundant as of Tuesday 31 May.
Our company is shutting the site as its sold to Lidl (Motor Trade)
I have no motivation but have a possible garage to work for on a 12 month contract.
This is the second redundancy (site closure) for me in 15 months, and third in 13 years - all motor trade (main dealer) garages.
