anyone into zetec tuning?
how far can you go with a 2.0l blacktop zetec?
assuming youve already got jenvey 45's, ecu,kent 2002 cams,verniers and forged pistons? whats the next step for 180+ bhp?

I would have thought that setup would have you close to that output.
Add some beadwork and time on the dyno to dial it all in and I'd say a job well done
You see raceline showing figures up to 240 bhp from a zetec on tb's. I wouldn't fancy the reliability though!

Fit larger intake valves. Port the head. You will be surprised how small the exhaust ports are. Raise CR. Fit ARP bolts to rods, and flywheel. Rolling
road. Suspension tuner.

A blacktop with ITBs should make 170-175, if you add cams to that you will be in the 185-190 region. Port & polished head with big valves,
springs, cams, vernier pulleys, arp bolts + ITBs should make 205-210.
Anymore needs pocketed pistons or preferable HC pistons with forged rods with high lift cams. 240-250 can be done.
Don't forget lightweight flywheel and a very good exhaust will be required as well.

Scholar built ours, 238 in their dyno cell, but the only part not modified was the block! Fine for full race but a real pain for road use and since my
health means racing is now out we're changing to a supercharged lump. The price gets stupid, the last 30 bhp would have cost over £1500, thank
god for sponsors!

The sweet spot for these engines is
Piper 285 cams (or similar) with vernier pulleys
ARP bolts
Jenvey ITB (or similar) with a decent ECU
decent exhaust
190-195BHP and a decent drive. Anything more becomes really expensive and isn't very nice on the road. Or you can Supercharge one like I did
and end up with linear power which peaks at 320BHP.
