Why is there not a big pipe between the tanks?

I like the way they've managed to answer "How much will it cost to build?" without actually giving a price.

Do you think that could be because most builds cost upwards of 75k now?

No big pipe on an XJ6, or a Mini Cooper S either!

They haven't answered it because its a silly question.

Much the same as "how much does a house cost to build"

if it was my poxy house then naff all, if it was buckingham palace then a fair bit.

If I were building an ultima I'd want to spend 60k on it and have some decent bits like a proper engine, but you can put one together with a basic 350 in it for £35k if you want.

My mate runs Ultima, and to be honest, I'm almost always amazed at how LITTLE the parts cost!!

Doing the custom work that we do is FAR more expensive given the end result, as every new project has a heap of parts to design etc.

The other (and slightly grander) way to fill both tanks would be to pull up between the pumps and have your mate/lady/chauffeur fill the left tank from one pump whilst you fill the right tank from another pump

I wouldn't expect a price, definative or otherwise. I just like the panache with which it was avoided.

How long is a piece of string?
About the same as an elastic band. However, bare in mind all our string is new, so no knots or frays like other peoples string.

Don't see why not, they both feed to the engine bay, there's one route already

I had a countach replica with twin tanks and it was just a large hose between them

From what I understand a lot do have a link pipe -12jic but it's still quicker to fill both tanks.

As said above, I believe there is a balance pipe between the tanks but it is a small bore so it wont pass enougth petrol though quick enough to allow you to fill both tanks from the one side without waiting ages, but work ok to keep the tanks balanced when using.

As for the antivirus, ive heard that from someone else when I posted the link to the website on another site, Im guessing someing in the AV software doesnt like the way the site is coded and thinks its doing virus type things. I dont get any errors using Sophos Antivirus which is a big coporate software.

Why does the Ultima not need roll down windows?
Simply because the doors open upwards unlike front hung doors on ordinary cars that are forced to have some form of opening access.
Tolls and the like are simple to access in this way and more fun than boring windows

I have twin tanks on my land rover with a change over tap and return to RH tank, so effectively I can fill the RH tank from the LH one, albeit at a slow rate.

I looked into joining the two tanks together but asking on LR forums was receommended not to - not sure what the reason was, but seemto recall the pipe wold fracture due to flkex in the chassis .... although thinking about it right now, using hose it should not be an issue ... or was it going to be a problem on slopes where one tank get filled byt the other .... but that shold be no worse than one full tank ??? see I told you I can't remember not that this has any relevance to the ultima as i am sure it is a damn sight more rigid than a 1950s box chassis.
