Tiptop tyres

Time to replace the tyres on the tiptop. Need to replace all 4 soon as they are down to 3mm.

Fairly large tyres 265/35/20 but wasn't expecting to be quoted £425 each by Audi.

That's £1,700. I could build 6 cars for that and have £200 spare for fuel.

Time to shop around.

http://blackcircles.com/

Never used them personally but a good judge for tyre prices with usually local fitting.

£286 a piece for Yokohamas fitted.

blackcircles are brilliant.

I've used them a couple of times and won't use anyone else again*, the business model is perfect (big buying power for the tyres, local guys doing the install, and feedback so that only decent local places get used).

*until the guys flogs the business to venture capitalists and they get greedy (like all the others; screwfix, carphonewarehouse, etc.)

You sure you checked the correct size as 265/35/20 currently showing as £243 per tyre unfitted.

Also check 'tesco tyres', they're actually the same place but for some reason some tyres are cheaper.

Get some smaller wheels!

I've just gone from 18" to 16" on the Beemer, comfier, more fuel efficient and tyres are £85 instead of £150

Just had a quick look at one of my tyre suppliers lists to give you an idea. Without searching for the best deal and keeping in mind I don't buy a huge number so the discount I get isn't huge...

I'd be paying £210+vat trade for Michelin Pilot Super Sports or £285 for P-Zero's... Plus a bit of mark-up, fitting and balance on top of that.

Are they standard or ExtraLoad though? The Michelin X/L version would be £90 more.

Extra load. It's a big heavy car. Tesco's are actually BlackCircles with club card points.

Think with the Camskill or BlackCircle deals are looking good.

I've seen plants of A7's with smaller wheels but the 20" really suit it, smaller wheels get lost in the arches. While I'm a big advocate that smaller wheels are better on Sevens the larger wheels do suit certain cars. Anyway, I don't have the rock hard S-Line suspension (I went SE) so the ride is reasonably good for a comfy luxo barge .
