September driver madness?

Is there something in the air?

Over the past 5 days there have been 3 accidents within a half mile stretch on my commute in/out of Basingstoke.

1. Numpty lost it on a roundabout, trashed hi Focus and a lamp post - very amusing watching him explaining it to the BIBas I drove past.

2. 4 car shunt off the same roundabout, with at least 2 of them written off.

3. This morning, another Focus, buried in the hedge with its roof cut off. Approaching the same roundabout.

What's going on....?

Comes down to people not adapting their driving to the weather conditions.

Especially when its been hot and then rains with downpor roads get even worst.

Plus sounds like the Ford Focus doesnt like that roundabout!!!

Thing is, these have all been in dry warm conditions. The only change I can detect is schools have gone back and the traffic is a bit heavier.

Could there have been a Diesel spill on the approach to the roundabout?

Possible, but one accident was 1/4 before, one on and one 500 yards after.

The 4 car shunt was just inattention I expect.

The lamp post one, the car ended up on the entry/exit island. People do over egg it trying to gain position coming off the roundabout.

The one in the hedge is where the road narrows from 2 to 1 lane. Again people are always pushing for position here.

Yeah I saw one on i think friday night that had an ambulance etc involved, and this mornings one was mentioned by a few people at work who had heard it on the radio.

My parents live just round the corner and I remember plenty of accidents in that same spot for years. Ive even been caught out there many moons ago, just touching bumpers at less than a couple of MPH, was fortunate no damage was done and it went no further.
Ive always fellt its something about the down hill, combined with change in gradiant and a surface that isnt great that seems to make it one of those unexplained black spots.
