Willwood powerlite
OK thinking of upgrading the brakes, so i need feedback please.
I have regulation sierra 240mm vented discs and sierra m/c so i thought maybe 260mm and the bigger caliper pad combo.
Then i thought 4 pots so had a look around and Willwood powerlite kits came up ?
Just thought i would ask the question and see what peeps have done.

Got Wilwoods on mine and they are good.
You will however have to use the Wilwood discs too as nothing else fits.
Duratec Engine is fitted, MS2 Extra V3 is assembled and tested, engine running, car now built. IVA passed 26/02/2016

Yes i have seen kits for sale calipers and discs with fittings, just checking on prices.
Did you change master cylinder ?

Only thing I would say is if you still need to IVA your car then don't bother as the handbrake is very poor!
However if I was to do my build again I think I would save my money and stick with the seirra items as your not upgrading the braking efficiency just
saving weight and a bit of bling

They are a vast improvement over sierra ones plus they weight a lot less. You need to get the front brake kit as it's all wilwood fitment.
I wouldn't bother changing master cylinder unless you find you have issues.
Oh and you'll need new brake flexies.
They fit under 13s too

I doubt i will have a handbrake on the front anyway
And yes i was thinking is it just bling but they must be an improvement on the little pads on 240mm discs.
Only reason for the upgrade is i'm on engine number 3 more power so notice the lack of stopping power, also the boredom after 13+ years so its
do a little more or sell up.

Go for the solid brake discs too. Keeps the heat in them when playing

Unfortunately for me I got wilwoods all round and coming up for my IVA all I have read was how poor the handbrake was and feel disappointed for how
much they were, infact I only passed the IVA breaking efficiency by 1% so just scrapped through.
Although as you say, they do look good

Thanks guys, just wondering if its worth hanging on till show time in 2014 to see if i can get any deals at Rally Design.

I'm going to throw my penny in. I have run both and i don't think the powerlites are actually any better than the sierra callipers when
it comes to outright stopping ability! the only thing they seemed to give me was nicer steering due to the huge drop in weight per corner. The 257mm
disc is too small for my liking especially when the rear wilwood powerlite kit comes with a 273mm disc which throws the balance off front to rear as
the rear disc is bigger.
my plans over the winter are to make new brackets for the powerlites at the front and go up to a solid disc that is the same or bigger than the rears.
Then i can up the pressure to the rear and get better braking all round.
so in conclusion they are good but not perfect. sometimes i wonder if i should have gone for the midilite on the front

Thanks ash i have taken that info on board, i have the same re discs on rear being larger than the front with my fronts having the basic 240mm disc
and smaller pads.
I might actually see an improvement with the bigger 4x4 type caliper pad,and possibly a change in m/c bore, i seem to remember people changing the
original sierra m/c for a VW m/c but i am struggling to find the info.
