Q Plate stigma / issues?

I'm starting a second Honda CB750 Project, it'll be a CR750 replica.

I have a 1973 Frame, and a 1973 engine, I think the frame is a US import, but, I can date both components, but, as I don't have import docs for the frame, I think I'm likely to end up with a Q plate if I road register it.

Are there really insurance issues or any other issues with Qs?

Cheers.

Pete.

My fireblade was a bitsa on Q plate, I could only get third party on it for a reasonable rate proceed with caution.

I don't recognise this issue.

My car is on a Q-plate and I've never had any trouble getting insurance. It's a limited mileage policy but full comprehensive cover.

The only thing I've noticed is the distinct advantage of pre-1973 emmissions check at MOT time

Had my Q with 2tegther insurance fully comp and agreed value for less than £ 120 every year for 4 years. I would say it does devalue the car slightly due to folk being "wary and afraid" of a Q plate. Also you can never put a personal reg on it.

If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

I think Pete is talking about a bike, not a kit car.
