Alfa Spider - are they fun?
Might pick up a cheap one for some summer fun while the Monte's off the road (and the Kit's not built).
Ropey ones seem be be pretty affordable now but are they fun or just a dull fwd chassis? Am I better off with a cheap MX5? It's not as
pretty/quirky but it is rwd

No experience with the spyder but the 2000 GTV coupes were a hoot to drive with excellent handling. Driving position was awful. Excellent bakes were
dual circuit with two separate brake servos. Istr a plate type LSD was standard. They were easy to service and look after, rust prone of course but
not as bad as the late 1970s new generation Alfetta GTV.
Back in the 1970s there was a an indecently quick GTV production saloon racer mixing it at the front with the V6 Capri's , Avenger Tigers Holbay
Hunters and the like.
Anybody else remember the white GTV racer , driven by Eddie Labinjo?

The Alfa's fwd, but I'm tempted by an MX5 just because it's rwd

i have done some work on these,the engine is a mega tight fit,doing a timing belt is a job for hero,s,they drive ok,turbo is super fast but being
topless they do handle like a bit of a jelly.
like most Alfa,s,it could be a money pit.....beware,oh and the electrics havnt really progressed from the days of old.

I've had one of these. Head turning cars and nice sound but electrics are rubbish and parts are really expensive. 8 spark plugs and 4 were 50
quid each. Thermostat was 30 to 50 quid. My local dealer was a right miserable sod (not all are) and it's really tight for belt changes,
like,really tight. I'd stay clear myself tbh.
