Go Kart Chassis
Has anyone on here built a go kart from scratch? Im taking about a proper go kart for racing not like one that you'd give to your kids with
pedals on it..
If so photos of said gokart would be good as I have a load of steel tubing in the garage that needs used up. mabe take the engine of my lawnmower and
put a torque converting clutch in it.
But any help or pictures for ideas would be hand. Cheers!

My son has a go kart for sale if that's any good? It's at my work so could take some photos tomorrow if that's a help? Failing that
you could buy it. :-);-)

Is it chromoly steel? That's what a proper race kart has.

I appreciate the desire to make stuff can't beat cutting and welding but while you have the metal its all the extras that add up like hubs,
bearing, axel, stearing and wheels that add up, when you can pick up old rolling chassis for £75 ish it's hard to justify

Yea its more about building it myslef for something to do. I love messing around with a welder and metal making stuff... Its not cromoly either its
just stainless tubing but itll do the same job.. Its not like im going to race it.. Itll just be like someting to drive around my garden in! Maybe out
bigger wheels on it.. As for cost.. Ill do it over a period of time! Just widnering if anyone had any pictures of anything they have made or plans!

a normal kart would be rubbish in the garden as they have no suspension or ground clearance
how about making a small single seater offroad buggy like this?

Thats just what im after Will! I might move the axles to below the chassi to give myself an inch or 2 more ground clearance. Ill also need to find
some way of bending the tubing i have.
Ill have a proper look at that DIY gokart site and see what other info i can find! 😉

Larger Wheels???
Kart chassis not easy to bend, except when rolled end over end as a 'friend' did to one of mine a long time ago!!!!!!
But you may be able to fit larger wheels to get the ground clearance you need.
