I am going on holiday, so what reading material have I decided to take with me? (car related)

I dont want this to be a rant about the state of the kit car mags these days, they are trying their best.

So, I am going on holiday tomorrow. I have decided to take:

- The latest PPC mag
- TKC mag
- Chassis engineering by Herb Adams
- Competition car suspension by Alla Staniforth

I wanted to buy one on aerodynamics but did not have time

The Allan Staniforth book is now out of print and apparently worth 200 quid on ebay and over 300 on amazon!!!!

Hows about https://gb.readly.com/ ?

https://gb.readly.com/products/magazines/gb/automotive

The beauty of this is you get to flick through dozens of different mags that you wouldn't normally have in your hand. You can share them all between five different devices/users so swmbo can flick through the girly stuff.

The Soft Science of Road Racing Motorcycles by Keith Code is one of the best vehicle related books I have read and re-read. It really is exceptional in teaching one the mental requirements of going fast and applies equally to cars as well, so don't be put off by the motorcycle part of the title. Below is the Amazon blurb.

"This exceptional workbook for road racer and sport rider details the process of high speed thought. Hundreds of questions aimed at solving the barriers of speed allow you to dissect your riding and pinpoint problem areas. This book elevates road racing into its proper place among the most demanding sports in the world. Here, the dynamic relationship between the rider and road is defined and ordered into a useable form. Filled with margin notes by World Champion Wayne Rainey. 6th ed."

I believe that a proper understanding and application of what he says can cut seconds off most drivers lap times.

Just one little gem that I recall from it is that he believes that more accidents happen because of drivers entering corners too slowly and trying to make up time by speeding up mid corner than entering too fast. (not his full explanation)

Thanks for posting this owelly, I had no idea this existed but it looks to be excellent value. I paid more than a tenner last month for only two magazines!
