Dutton or Locust?
Hi there, looking for some cheap summer fun for £3k or less,
I’ve found a nice looking Locust with the bespoke suspension, and also a nice Dutton B type.
Thoughts on the merits of either, or anything else available?
Cheers

you do realise the minute you buy one the summer will end and you be faced with 6 months of solid rain, followed by 4 months of rain sleet and snow...

Both of those cars are likely to be pre-SVA so make sure they are properly registered (have gone through the amnesty a few years back) i.e. should
have Dutton or Locust on the V5 docs as the make. If they are still on an Ford Escort/Triumph Herald/ Ford sierra/Morris Marina ore even Ford Dutton
etc. log book then walk away.

In my opinion at that end of the kit car market you would be much better putting your cash into an MX5, Z3 or even a tatty Boxster.
Both cars don't handle very well, are heavy and slow. I just don't see the point in owning one.
...all just my opinion
I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.

Although not exactly what you'd want to hear on a kit car forum... your quite right and you'd have a car for all weathers though I'd
stay away from any Boxster as they can be hellish money pits. An MX5 can be a fab car but just watch out for rusty rear body work and go for as late a
model as you can

yeah I can certainly relate to that. Just the reality of British weather interfering with your fun should probably be something to consider
