My Bug Build
I finally got around to uploading a new "video" (of still images with text) of my mid-engined V8 Beetle build should anyone not have
anything to do for five and a half minutes or so

Not sure how you are going to widen the front arches to that extent I found adding 2 inches quite a challenge mainly due to the headlight bowl and
the bottom edges needing to be raised. Will be interesting to see how it turns out. You've done a lot though

Retropower are widening the wings on a Morris Minor to accommodate the extra width of the MX5 track. A similar approach
perhaps.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyMsTB38AzE

Could you widen the wings and accommodate twin headlamp bowls (or even different shape headlamps) to use up the space?
Alternatively maybe you could box the arches to extend the width. Think Audi RS6 where they've boxed the arches to allow a wider track.
Can't seem to post picture, hipefully this link will work:

Thanks for the positive comments Gents.
That Retropower lot really are rather good.
The rear wings will be cut close to body and stepped out. I'll probably make a travelling bracket (fixed to car but the wing attachment will
move) using existing holes on the wings to move them out relative to each other. Then I'll infill like the Minor but maybe with one strip,
probably do the same at the front but cut around the light bowl. Not sure I fancy twin lights as trying to keep it looking reasonably stock
There's a (British) chap in the States call Nathan Kershaw (YT is called Nathan's Garage) and he dropped a Beetle shell over a Z3? BMW and
widened the wings quite satisfactorily
Best do some more work on it now!!!
Cheers again

How about just widening the shell? cut it down the middle and add say 4 inches... would make it much nicer inside too as their really very narrow
cars. I've seen plenty of examples, like this one -

Not a bad idea and would certainly make for a more roomy interior as well.

Front and rear windscreens might be a problem, this is another way around the small car problem https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxxK6dD6lfw
I think I'll stick to widening the arches
