Pre sva pics
just looking for general comments, sva is two weeks away so plenty of time to fix things!!
I understand that both the front and rear lights may be a problem but in both cases some people have passed others have failed so in the case of
avoiding extra unnecessary expense they are staying as they are for the test.
all other comments welcome
Excuse the dirty wishbones!!

Headlights?
Apart from that it looks good.
What mirrors are those?
Thanks,

Nut covers on the air filter nuts, and have you measured the radius of your instruments?
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

The flexi hoses don't contact anything so do i still need to clip the back?
Looks like i will need to have a look at the filter, not sure what to cover the nuts with. they are quite small, any ideas where i can get some small
covers from?
Not much i can do about the seatbelt mounts, if thats a problem mk will have to sort that out!
cheers everyone

The harness top mounts could be an issue. have you maesured them in accordance with the SVA rules? Also IIRC the seat holes they pass through must be
'structural' as the belt is changing direction at that point. You may be asked to prove that the holes are structural - ie steel frame
seat with bar across just be;low holes....
Or maybe it will be fine... what do i know I haven't finished building yet!
Looking good BTW, good luck!

Watch the height of your seatbelts relative to the seats. Mine were to low and failed and I had to put extentions on the bolts to bring them up to
the correct height. I also failed because I did not have any cushioning on the front wishbone arms. Good luck.

Seatbelt mounts also.
Mine (book build) were mounted simlar to yours and with Cobra seats failed by around 10mm. Holes in Cobra seat are not regarded as structural as I
thought (hoped). I had to weld in a cross brace and mounts to get the extra height.
Difficult to check without the right piece of kit but I would have thought MK should have this one covered .
I used to be apathetic but now I just don't care.

Mine also failed on seat belt mounting height. the common consencus was the mountings are set for fibre glass bucket seats with no padding. i've
had to buy cussion seats from the tiger R6 to get the height. you need to be 503mm from the centre of the seat cusion to the upper mounting point. i
had 420mm with the baby cub seat. can you get a letter off the seat manufacture that the seat can take the loads?
the steering on mine turned far enough for the track rods to touch the cycle wing stays, and also put pressure on the flexable hose as it enters the
caliper.
solution is to restrict the rack by
springs 20mm inside diameter
or
alloy pipe over the rack (i'm using this one with a grub screw to prevent movement of the pipe)
or
a jubilee clip (sva mans informal suggestion)
all the above will be hidden behind the gator and out of sight.
ditch
ps the exaust clips (around the exaust) can be considered sharp, i angled them so the sva man had trouble toughing the bits that stick up with his
measuring device.

Hi
Thats a nice looking motor, Only a couple of things that I can see,
1, Seatbelt height? Do you have runners on your seats? if you do, take them off and the mounting points are ok, with them on they are a fail for
height,
2, What problem do you see with the rear lights? If they are a single led ring for side and brake lights they may try and pull you for this as you
can't use the same fillament in 1 bulb to do 2 jobs, explain that they are led's and do not have a fillament and you should be ok. Mine
passed with these on.
Thats all I can see.
hth. john.
edit to say....
you could use a blob of silicone on the nuts on the carbs, my motor was covered in the stuff for the test without a word said then just some white
spirit to get it off after.

Regarding the seat height issue. I also have an Indy with Roadster 7 seats and SVA'd at Beverley where I presume you will be going. I have my
drivers seat on cobra runners to allow adjustment and spaced the passenger seat so that they were sat at the same height. After measuring mine
according to the SVA diagram I found I was just shy of the required measurement.
To try and get round this I made some spacers up out of steel tube and bought some longer high tensile bolts so I still had plenty of thread in the
chassis tubes.
Went for SVA and got Paul (I think) who was spot on guy. He asked me about the spacers and understood why I had done them but said that he wanted me
to remove them as he would prefer to have the bolts screwed right down to the tubes on the chassis so under less strain and he wasn't worried
about the fact that I may be a few mm (12mm if I recall) low.
As I had already had a fail on the emissions which meant I needed a retest I decided to remove the spacers at home and get them ticked off at retest
time. However when I went for retest I got different tester who looked like he had PMT and got the measuring apparatus out for the harness height
test. Obviously it just failed. I explained what I had been told to do at my original test and that I would otherwise have taken the runners of the
seat and bolted directly to the chassis to eliminate the problem. He went to see my original tester (who I think is the main guy for kits) and came
back and said it was OK.

ok, so i think general thoughts are seatbelt height so i will go ahead and take the runners off and that will hopefully lower the seats enough? also
the nuts on the filter, so i'll need some silicone.
