The hydrocarbon industry LOVES the idea of hydrogen-powered cars - because the majority of it will most likely be made from oil. So little reduction
in pollution and the mess that the oil industry causes.
Also using hydrogen for motive power involves many issues:
- It is very difficult to store as it has the ability to leak out of almost any container given half a chance.
- it has to be stored at very high pressure, and at very low temperatures if storing in bulk.
- it would still have to be transported to the hydrogen equivalent of the petrol station by a fleet of tankers.
There are other problems, but it's late and I'm off to bed...
