Can anyone supply and laser cut 3mm Titainium ?

Hi guys

I have sorted why my BEC wont engage first gear and its because the whole linkage is too heavey for the Klictronic to lift aswell as putting it in gear.

I can make some ally bits in place of some steel ones but I need do to get a long gear arm cut out of 3mm titainium. Basicly it's 130mm long, about 20mm tapering to about 15mm. Is there anyone out there that can do this or recommend someone who can? I'm happy to pay a fair amount to get it done.

Thanks
Jason

thats seems over kill.

why not drill lots of holes in the steel one before you replace it?

then if it either brakes or still doesnt work, go to the expense of a Ti one.

Could you counterbalance the linkage with springs?

Oh - and Titanium is not particularly light!
Normally you design thin sections utilising the higher strength properties of the Titanium.

Density Aluminium 2712 Kg/M3
Density Titanium 4500 Kg/M3

I need it rigid because there is a lot of side load on the arm so drilling holes may cause other problems.

I had thought of a counter balance and yes this would work as there lots of room to fit it but if theres a chance of getting a titainium one made then it would jet be the perfect job.

heres a pic of the problem gear linkage

A mate of mine has just finished a large job making titanium cladding panels, not sure of the thickness i can check on Monday, if he's got some scrap and its the right thickness i could watercut it for you

yes but I have a 5mm steel at the moment which is 7800kg /M3 so with 3mm titainium I would be saving about half the current weight.
