Zetec How much Power ?
Just got back from having the car remapped and not sure if I should be pleased or not.
Car is running 2.0 zetec (silvertop) with 38mm GSXR throttle bodies. Standard Cams
Should also mention its on megasquirt
max power @ Flywheel 140BHP 127lbft Torque.
Power at the wheels 116BHP
Is this good, bad or just what to expect
cheers
Andy

It sounds a bit down to the norm....Typically the 2ltr give around 160bhp with throttle bodies...
Can you post the curve and include the AFR graph....Would be useful to see what is going on....
I'm assuming your exhaust system is ok....The throttle bodies are more than capable of running higher bhp, as is MS, so somthing just doesn;t
seem quite right...the torque seems too low for a 2ltr...
This is more like an 1800 oputput....

Sorry but thats seems very poor to be honest. I've seen up to 175bhp at the flywheel from a standard 2L Zetec and most seem to be 160 -
170bhp.
Every rolling road is different mind - how does it feel to drive?? I guess only comparing it to someone else's car with a 2L Zetec will tell you
(other than going to another rolling road). Do you have the printout you can put up on here??
Are you running the standard cast exhaust manifold by any chance?

I got 159BHP 150 lb ft at the flywheel with Megasquirt, 45mm Jenveys and standard cams on a Silvertop. So yes, yours seems low

my 2litre zetec last RR at 149bhp at 6300rpm but thats on GSXR600 throttle bodies, standard ford ECU and a restrictive MAF, so would thought yours a
bit low, im now in process stand alone ECU ported head and cams and hoping for 175bhp.
You say standard cams, are you sure they are 130/136bhp spec cams and not 115 ones?

car still has the standard cast exhaust manifold.
Dont know what the standard cams are, the engine was from a granada.
Got the car done at Extreme Motorsport who do all the Evo and scooby stuff. they use a dastek dynamometer.
basically the car is running really well, there is plenty air and fuel, they cannot get it to pink or any sign of knocking, its achieving peak power
on the top of the cam at about 6800rpm
Was going to get a new exhaust manifold over the winter.
Is there an easy way to identify if its a 2.0 or a 1.8
cheers

Granadas never had a zetec in them, you can identify the engine size from the casting, an 1800 will have 1.8 in big letters on the side.

So, it looks like we have two issues here....
Fist off, can you confirm it's a zetec?....As mentioned Granada's did not (as far as I know) have Zetec's, I think the 2ltr was the
less potenet and heavier DOHC engine.
Also, a stock cast manifold will e hugely restrictive and have next to no primary length.....Ok for economy, rubbish for performance.....

Put a picture of the engine on here so we can see what type it is.

OK
Its definitely a zetec as its says so on the top " Zetec 16v" so probably not the engne from the donor car.
GSXR 600 throttle bodies.
Apparently the engine itself is in good nick and now runs very well, just obviously down on what it should be powerwise.
I will have a look at cams and exhaust manifold then get it checked again
cheers

The cast manifold will drop you a fair bit.
Even a cheap 4 into 1 from Gbs should gain you 15bhp with a remap.

There you go. 2 litre silvertop, standard block, pistons, head and cams. Very carefully built though. 600GSXR TB's, megasquirt 1v3. and a
large bore Dunnell exhaust system and all in a Westfield.
Tuned at Jamsport, Northampton - 174bhp at the flywheel. There are more details on my website.

What air filters are you running? Please don't say filter socks!
