OT - Tin-Top insurance

Its due again soon and I don't like what I'm paying now, but can't find anything cheaper

rough details are:
me +3 or 4 drivers (me@28 +1@22 +1@25 + my mum, cause that makes it cheaper )
all with there own cars, clean licences and no claims

9 years of no claims

fully comp + windscreen + no claim protection
with commuting and business use for me only

12000 miles

the cars only an 1.8 petrol focus (2001) - but they want £380 for the renewal

anyone got any suggestions / recommendations ?

Try churchill, but after getting a quote ring them and try to negociate.
My gf rang up to correct a mistake and got a better deal, when she expected it to cost more.
Thanks
Darren

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

cheers, but I normally do that anyway (I should have said)

also I should have said its with tesco just now and the best on line quotes I've had to date are around the £425 mark, nearly £50 more than the renewal

[edit] elephant was about £430

I've got all three cars insured with 2Gether now. Very reasonable.

You could try giving Chris Knott a go. They promote on a lot of the car forums and i heard about them on the VXR forum. Just renewed with them, I'm 39, 3 points speeding, full NCB and paid £320 for my 2008 Astra VXR with protected NCB. Rang them when i bought a little 54 plate Vauxhall Combo van to run about in and that was only £200 fully comp for proper van insurance including carrying goods if i ever need to. As this was a new policy this was only with any introductory NCB.
I also live in Hull which isn't the cheapest area for insurance.

A lot depends on the level of car crime in your post code.

No claims protection is really only worthwhile if you have a maximum NCB before you start it as it in effect freezes your NCB and what constitutes maximum NCB varies from company to company.

car crime round here isn't much of a problem (where do you check that anyway?)

I only added protected no claims when I got to the maximum which was 5 years, but now they say 9 but I've got that now as well
