Travis Pastrana world record rally car jump - 269 feet
Sorry if it's a repost, but here it is anyway:

Needs a few more camera angles, but awesome none the less
If you're not living life on the edge you're taking up too much room.

I remember reading about Travis when he was a very young kid.
They were at Lorretta Lynn's and none of the 125's or 250's had attempted the triple in practice. He pulled over to the side of the
track and asked his dad could he have a go.
He then hit the triple on his big wheel 80
I wouldn't want his hospital bills though, his body must be fuct.

quite right.
the angle and distance of the ramps are calculated - all he hadto do was press the fast pedal to reach the right speed. had enough cage and safety
equipment than anyone could do it really.
requires nowhere near the courage of the bike jump.

Oh he's not short of courage (or insanity depending on your viewpoint) or indeed bike skills

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

I saw a lot of guys doing jumps on the downhill mountain bikes. Did a few myself. Not a single one came off a racing/freeriding "career"
without a major injury. I won't list mine here, but I don't do big jumps anymore. And they're not big compared to those guys!!
