No Autosport Show For Me...

Oh well, not entirely unexpected. Had hoped my back would have improved, but nope - day 7 of lying in my bloody bed with gritted teeth!

Booked flights to Birmingham and a room at one of the NEC hotels... yet another waste of money (but not as much as when I had to abort the British GP at the last minute for the same reason - £600 ).

Me too... thanks David!

PS - It's likely going to be Monday by the time I can get those shiny bits out! Sorry for the delay!

Take it easy & don't rush your recovery! I was off for about 4 months with 2 collapsed disks last year (started at the Stoneleigh show...) and I'm only now starting to be able to walk any great distance or lift anything in the garage.
When you do start getting mobile again, my physio had some good advice: "Do whatever you would normally do, but learn when to stop, i.e. before it starts to hurt."

I know how much pain you must be in - it will get better though.

Take care.

Ed.

PS: You might want to see your GP and change medication if it's not manageable after 7 days? I ended up on paracetamol, codeine, pregabalin (nerve pain), diazepam and diclofenac. The thing that really helped though was steroid injections.

Yeah if it cheers you up I'm not long back and you didn't miss much at all. We were all done within 3 1/2 - 4 hours. The show gets smaller every year I think. And the queuing to get in was awful. They shut all car parks except for the far one which they funelled everyone through to and which backd up the motorway and delayed the start of the live arena show.
So there you go. Just as well off lying in bed all day (except for the pain, obviously!)
Oh I might add that there's a girl in my street who'll do more than sit on the floor next to a tyre for the price of a ticket too!

Get well soon Scootz ....

Gave up on that show a couple of years back ...all for the reasons Mr Grumps has mentioned....

The Retro show at Stoneleigh is way better IMO

Well I thought it was good!

Not sure how different the show is at the weekend but I went on Thursday and it was a top day out. Obviously less cues. I think probably a little bit less hero-worshipping of stars and a whole extra hall covering more of the engineering type stuff. Pre-booked including the arena show, which was worth the time in itself, also a good rest from walking around. I arrived at 11am and genuinely struggled to take it all in, in fact had to rush around a bit towards the end.

Mind you I have heard good things about the retro race show

Get fixed quick Scott, nothing worse than back problems.

As for the show, I was in the door at 9am and had done it all by 3pm.

I dare say a lot of it must get repeated year in year out.
