OT tintop (Mondeo) info ?

Can anyone tell me where the thermostat is on a Mk3, 1.8l duratec, Ford Mondeo please ?

I've not seen the car (or Haynes manual for it) yet, owner (step-dad) says the temp gauge is hardly moving. I'm going to see him tonight, in the dark and rain, car will be on the street and I don't fancy searching for it

Is it an easy enough job ? I've heard there's a possibility it won't be a normal wax-stat, but some electrical gizmo ?

Cheers in advance, Tony

On the inlet side, toward the front. Black plastic housing. Should have an electric connection on the top too. Its a normal was stat but can be overridden electrically.

Held on with 3 bolts.

Cheers Flak, I'll look like I know what I'm doing now

Actually, I've just spent 10 mins looking for it !
I can see the coolant pipes leading to it, but it's covered by the inlet manifold etc.

The first step in the Haynes manual is "remove the drivers side headlight" and fix it through there, it's gonna be like keyhole surgery FFS
