Years ago I wrote an article about one of the Funnycars that used to run at Santa Pod - ISTR that it had an 11 litre V8, burning 13 gallons (yes
gallons) of Nitro in the 3 and a bit seconds it took to do the standing quarter mile. Around 6400 BHP I think.
Just did a quick google and apparently they use up to 95% nitro-methane, 5% methanol and run fuel-air ratios of up to 1:1 !!!! 7000 ft-lb of torque
and pulling upward of 6G.
