Will my disks be warped?

After my caliper seized a few weeks ago and me having no money to sort it, i should eb able to get it sorted tomorrow but i was told the other day to expect the disk to be warped.

How likely is this? The car was driven about half a mile at 30 - 40 mph with the caliper seized (A27 is a sod to find somewhere safe to stop )

possible if got that hot, no real way of telling till un-seized and you can spin it freely, or get the pads out and spin the disc

Even if it is, so long as it is not nearing its minimum wear limit you can get them faced by a local engineering shop.

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Discs do not tend to "warp" as such. Normally what people think of as warping is pad deposits or where the structure of the metal itself changes due to extreme heat.

Often 'warped' discs can be cleaned up by some hard stops over a short period as this will get the disc up to a decent temp and clean them up. Failing that you can get them faced.

25 years ago it was economical to get warped disks skimmed, but I doubt the same is true now.
