Clio 1.5 deisel... losing power and pull.. any help?
I have a 1.5 dci with 100600 miles, starts every time and runs very smooth even now. Problem is that over the past few months it has very gradually
been losing acceleration/pull and power and more so up hill. Takes ages to get up to 80 mph, not missing, not spluttering, very smooth still but feels
like someone has hid an elephant in the boot. Used to get a minimum of 55 mpg to 65 mpg now dropped to 53 best.
Any suggestions?
Chris.

Had same symptoms on a 52 plate one (Clio Dci) and it was the EGR valve. Wasn't cheap
either, about £150 IIRC.

Whats an EGR valve?
Ahha.. just found this thread that sounds useful.
Just noticed your building with a ZZR1100. Is it a good fast engine? Someone was asking if I was interested in a 92 bike with 20,000 miles. Any idea
what kind of money would make it a VERY good buy?
Hijacked my own thread there

Only problem I've EVER had with my work Kangoo,- 5yrs old.
Get some EGR valve cleaner from your local factors first before you
replace though, it usually clears it. Common problem on dCi engines,
not just Renault.

I clean EGR valve with brake cleaner, it frees them up and stops them sticking open.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

,
Good solid lump, outclassed now but still 140 horses and 80lbs torque.
I'm using it as in the essence of LB it was cheap !! £200, loom, carbs and all.
I'd say it;s worth between £1000-£1200, £600 would be a "very good buy"
