VX 1.7Di Cooling Issue
Hopefully the collective wisdom of LBs can do its usual fine work...
My little Corsavan has taken to spewing its coolant from the header tank. I've replaced the cap. Once warm, foam/bubbles still pours from the
cap.
The water is circulating at least to a degree - the heater gets warm until all of the water finds its way out of the system. However, the temperature
gauge barely moves until the water is gone.
What do we think? What should I try next? Is it pointless as its inevitably the head gasket?
Cheers

Head gasket or cracked cylinder or cylinder liner.

what year is it and how many miles are on it?
i would get it sniff tested at a garage (its very cheep.
sounds like gases are geting into it so the cylinder head may be away leakin from the head gasket to the water ways.
A sniff test also known as a tk test,co test, block tester works by sampling the air in the cooling system at the radiator filler, when combustion gas
is present it causes the testing fluid in the tester to change colour.

Get a block leak test done. Its a cylinder that goes on the expansion tank and measures if any gases are in the coolant showing cracked block or head
gasket.
I have known water pumps on vauxhalls to do this. Looks like a head gasket but not. Only 20 quid worth a try. Never had a head gasket go on one of
them.
