Pat on the back for me
Managed to get the m3 lump from the car today
took about a day in total due to bloody earthing straps on the engine mounts holding it in that I couldn't see and doing, also the manifold
bolts were rust welded to the decat pipe that was fitted and due to their secondhand value I couldn't just chop them off.
It'd been easier if I didn't do it on my own either!
Next Job is to get the diff out and strip all the bits worth anything off it.
who knows how long it'll be till it runs again....

great job franky! Puts my BMW lump to shame! (yours is twice the capacity than mine!)
Same applies if you want any advice on dropping the diff and rear end, give me a shout

It looks a big lump
Any chance you could measure it and the box?
(just for future possible projects)

Its not twice the size, this is a mere 3.0.
Will remember that, took the front end off like you said The drive train parts seem to come off quite easy, I removed the front subframe to give me
more space, just to have to refit it so I can get the car out the garage when I'm next off.
I'll do measurements when I get the garage sorted and a proper engine trolley made up.
Its a tall engine but not wide. To me it makes more sense than throwing cash at throttle bodies/turbos etc etc.

Wow... thats a beast of an engine..
Is there any chance you could measure how big it is?
Length, width (when its leaning at the correct angle)
etc...
Im curious to know if a similar engine would actually fit in my TVR... lol

Watching with interest as the next upgrade on Viento will be a switch to an M3 lump. ( probably at the end of next summer.)

What's the exhaust manifold like? A 6-1 cast jobbie?
Anything usable?
Cheers,
James

the manifold is a work of art, 3-2-1(x2).
The manifold will be sold to go towards a system for the car.

Sorry, didn't explain clearly enough. I was wondering if the original was any good to use on the new car. (As assuming a new one will be
relatively expensive).
When I engine upgrade I'd like a side panel exit exhaust as opposed to an 'over the top' type. But for that, it needs to be much
more compact and was wondering if an original could be used/modified or whether it demands a custom one?
Just curious/planning. Can't afford to get mine on the road as it is!
Cheers,
James
